NINA EDBOM-KEHLER

Coordinator

Allow us to introduce the person behind the email: Nina Edbom-Kehler. She has been a dedicated member of the AAFRC since her daughter was born—an impressive 20 years ago. With a wealth of experience and a genuine passion for supporting preschoolers and their parents, Nina is committed to navigating the rewarding journey of parenting. She cherishes the AAFRC as a vibrant organization where families can come together to connect, learn, and enjoy each other's company. You may even spot her “stealthily” leaving her office to engage with the Stay & Play group downstairs, relishing the joyful sounds of children at play.

LISA HIEBERT-PENNER

Facilitator

Fifteen years ago, Lisa Hiebert-Penner joined a Stay & Play group and has been involved ever since. She participated in AAFRC programming as a parent for eight years, serving on the board for seven of those years, before taking on the role of facilitator, which she has grown into over the past seven years as she brings a special flair to any program she facilitates. What she cherishes most about being part of the AAFRC family is witnessing the connections and lifelong friendships formed among families. Whether you're new to the community or a lifelong resident, the opportunity to connect with others on a similar path is invaluable. When asked about her most memorable AAFRC experience, she shared: "As a parent, there are SO MANY incredible memories with my kids, watching them grow and forge friendships (many of which continue into grades 10 and 7). As a facilitator, returning to the center after COVID was unforgettable. The years away were long, and we had to reinvent our approach—some aspects were challenging (like YouTube), while others were wonderful (such as take-home kits!). It felt amazing to be back!"

MELINDA DELORME

Facilitator

Introducing our Rosenfeld Stay & Play facilitator and our go-to social media expert, Melinda Delorme! Over the years, she has participated in many of our programs, and once her children started school, she joined us as a facilitator. This role perfectly aligns with her family commitments, allowing for summers and school days off—it's an ideal part-time job! Who wouldn't enjoy the chance to play with children while getting paid? While there isn't a specific moment that stands out, witnessing kids emerge from their shyness to engage in activities and foster a sense of community is truly rewarding. As someone who transitioned from a Stay & Play participant to a facilitator, Melinda appreciates the complete picture of our mission!

MELISSA KRAHN

Facilitator

Meet Melissa Krahn, our team member who is the only one with preschoolers at home. She organizes the Gretna Stay & Play programs and oversees some of our bi-weekly take-home kits. Although she is new to the AAFRC, Melissa enjoys attending programs and engages in the trainings provided, offering her expertise whenever necessary. Like the rest of the team, she appreciates the flexibility of working for AAFRC, which is essential as she balances her busy life with three children.
